Kakinada Deep Water Port was commissioned by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in November 1997, with an initial quay length of 610 meters. Following privatisation in 1999, Kakinada Seaports Ltd assumed operations and set a clear course for growth and modernisation. Within a decade, the port expanded to a 2,500-meter-long quay, enabling multi-product cargo handling and establishing a dedicated offshore supply base for deep-sea exploration.

Strategically positioned to serve the districts of East and West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, and the entire Telangana region, the port supports a diverse cargo base that includes agricultural commodities, minerals, coal, and fertilisers-strengthening its role as a key enabler of regional and national trade. As maritime traffic continues to evolve, Kakinada remains focused on forward-looking expansion, operational excellence, and infrastructure advancement. With a clear vision for sustainable growth, the port is committed to enhancing capacity, strengthening global connectivity, and contributing meaningfully to India’s eastern trade corridor.
